Freeman A. Hrabowski III
Hrabowski has been president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, since 1992. His research and publications focus on science and math education, with a special emphasis on minority participation and performance. He was named by President Obama to chair the newly created President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans.

Fullan is professor emeritus of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto. Recognized as a worldwide authority on education reform, Fullan is engaged in advising policymakers and local leaders around the world on how to help all children receive an education.

Hargreaves is the Thomas More Brennan Chair in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. He is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Educational Change. His current research is on successful education change strategies in high-performing schools, districts, and countries.

Kumashiro is currently professor of Asian American Studies and Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the president of the National Association for Multicultural Education. Justice Sandra Day O'Connor
O'Connor is a retired United States Supreme Court justice. She served as an associate justice from her appointment in 1981 by Ronald Reagan until her retirement from the Court in 2006. She was the first woman to be appointed to the court. She is also the founder of iCivics, an organization dedicated to the importance of civics education.

Valens taught in Dayton, Ohio, and Los Angeles, Calif., but spent most of her career teaching elementary grades in the Open Classroom of the Lagunitas School District in Northern California. She is the coproducer/director of August to June and an Internet series titled "A Year At Mission Hill." A documentary titled Good Morning Mission Hill: The Freedom to Teach is planned for the fall. ;Valens is also the author of two children's books, Jesse's Daycare (Houghton Mifflin), and Danilo the Fruit Man (Dial).

Schwartz is currently head of the Baker Demonstration School in Wilmette. Ill. He previously served as principal of Washburne Middle School in the Winnetka Public Schools. He is on the steering committee of the National Progressive Education Network, the Board of the North Dakota Study Group, and the Advisory Board of Erika’s Lighthouse.
